Lack of trust between the citizens and the police, we witness today all over Pakistan is the result of a deteriorating law-and-order situation, the constantly increasing crime rate, countless cases of negligence, lack of accountability, lack of responsibility, abuse and misuse of police power, along with deeply rooted issues of corruption within the law enforcement structure itself. All of which have unfortunately perpetuated a sense of insecurity, distrust, heightened feelings of hopeless and helplessness among the general population of Pakistan. Whereby, now the common person believes and favors the trend of taking the law (unto himself/herself) in his own hands to acquire immediate and swift justice. The Pakistan Police Service has its own set of hurdles, preventing them from efficient and professional performance. They rightly allege political interference, lack of modern forensic facilities, inadequate training and equipment, inadequate funding and resources, and weaknesses in the judicial sphere.
